Dr. Ogata’s father has practiced dentistry in Japan for many years, and she watched him serve the local residents to improve their oral health. He taught her the value of hard work, which helped her make a career decision in dentistry as she grew older. She went on to graduate from Kagoshima University School of Dental Medicine, Kagoshima, Japan. Later, she would also graduate from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Ogata’s philosophy when it comes to dentistry is to treat her patients as if they were her family
members or close friends. Her goal is to deliver high-quality patient care in a friendly atmosphere. She strives to provide treatment options and recommendations based on the best available scientific
evidence and the individual needs of the patient. Dr. Ogata greatly enjoys the privilege to see happy
patients with improved oral health, function, and self-confidence after dental care.
Outside of the office, Dr. Ogata is very involved in the industry. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). She is actively involved in clinical research and mentoring research projects for periodontal residents and dental students. Her research has focused on testing and enhancing procedures for hard tissue regeneration, including guided bone regeneration (GBR), ridge preservation, and sinus augmentation for implant therapy. She is also a Visiting Professor at Tokyo Dental College in Japan.
An experienced periodontist, Dr. Ogata has won many accolades and awards. Most recently, she
received the Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics, from the American
Academy of Periodontology (AAP) in 2019. She is an active member of the American Academy of

When she is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Ogata enjoys traveling, reading, playing games, watching
movies, cooking, and going to the park with her husband and children. Originally from Japan, Dr. Ogata
now resides in Brookline, MA. She is fluent in both English and Japanese.
